The meeting was called to order by Greg Ricks at the home of Tony Browning at 7:13 PM.

Treasurer’s report:
Treasurer Cuny advised that all receipts have been paid to date. Treasurer’s report will be filed for audit.

Secretary’s Report was approved and is available online.

Committee Reports:

Apartment & Real Estate – Kyni Hartwell, chair:

• Report was handed out to the committee.  There are 22 active listings, not including condos, and there are six pending sales.  Seven properties have sold in four months.  Nothing is selling for the asking price.

Safety & Security – Carl Langley, chair:

• Carl is still collecting data to chart crime activity.  His stats show that burglaries are increasing again.
• Ken advised that he may ask those with Crime Watch signs if they would like to participate in the program.  If not, they should return the signs.
• Ken spoke to Officer Perez about cameras for the storefront.  The PD will take care of getting these.
• The Woodhaven Gun Club offers a discount to WNA members.
• Code Blue members are actively patrolling.  We need to get more members!  Ask your neighbors to join.
• Kyni is looking into purchasing more Code Blue signs.  He is checking with the PD about WNA paying for them.
• If you are in Code Blue, please carry Woodhaven Code Blue brochures and applications so you can pass them out as needed.

Enhancement – Tom & Ken, co-chairs:

• Ken will be leaving for the summer. Tom will be taking over for the rest of the year.
• Chesapeake will be pushing a pipe under Bridgewood sometime in May.  This will affect our marker.  They will try to salvage the wall with “Woodhaven” imprinted in it.  Most of the shrubs have been transplanted into the other markers.  For every tree that’s cut down in the City of Fort Worth, one has to be planted, so Chesapeake will do this.
• Rick Disney will be handling the negotiations with Chesapeake.
• The sprinkler system is still not working properly at Bridgewood again.  Contractor will repair this.
• Brandon is to ask before he does any extra work.  He will be repairing a sprinkler head at Highwoods and Boca Raton.
• We asked if we could put the marker work out for bid.  First, we will try scaling back, then request bids at the first of the year.
• In one of the upcoming email blasts, we will ask for volunteers to assist with the markers to help lower maintenance costs.
• The committee thanked Ken for his hard work on the markers.

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• There are still a few memberships coming in.  We currently have 115.
• Re: the newsletter – We did not generate enough new members to warrant doing a mailing to the entire membership again.  Carl advised that he signed up one person for Crime Watch.
• Those who haven’t renewed their memberships have not  said why they have not joined again.
• Greg advised that neighborhood association memberships are down throughout the city.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair

• It was suggested that in order for the newsletter to be successful, we need to do it more than once.

Special projects & Programs – Wanda Lanham and Tony Browning, co-chairs

• Wanda has been working on publicity for the shredding event.  Greg will send out more emails.
  • The shredding truck will be there at 8:30, please come and help set up.
  • Carl & Kyni will assist with tables and chairs.
  • Kay will bring a chair and umbrella, ice chest, ice and water.
  • Kyni will do a Code Blue table.
  • Greg & Doug will get Danny’s tent.
  • Shaws will take the money and will get change for the event.
  • Wanda/Greg will get a coupons from Albertson’s and Mr. Jim’s.
• Greg and Wanda met with Scoma about the 4^th of July program. The Club has a committee to determine the events of the day.  They will let Wanda know when they decide how we can assist.

• There are several areas of high grass.  Complaints can be filed online with the city.

• Newsletter has been at the printer since last Thursday.  The neighborhood should be receiving it any day now.

• Wanda will be working on the 4^th of July program.
• Press release was sent to Meadowbrook News about the shredding event.
• There will be a Code Blue table at the shredding event.
• Wanda will mention it at Woodhaven Women’s Club.
• Wanda and Kay will ask Albertson’s for a coupon to be given out that day.  Also, Mr. Jim’s is open to the idea of distributing a coupon.

The meeting was called to order at 6:35 at the home of Wanda Lanham.

We will be going back to one meeting per month.

After next month, we will try meeting on the 2^nd Monday of each month.

The WNA quarterly meeting was a success!  Thanks to Wanda and her helpers!  We received a lot of great comments.

April 18^th is the scholarship reception at the Country Club.  Cost will be $3 for dessert.

We need to follow up with Scoma on the details for the 4^th of July.  Greg will pull together the details.

If the Club cooperates, it’s possible we may have a dinner meeting in May on a night that the Club has a dinner.  The Steering Committee will try to meet there on April 4^that 7:00, provided that there is a menu, since there is not currently a chef.

The shredding project needs a name…  “Stop Identity Theft!  GET SHREDDED!” Wanda will advise the shredding company.  Mike at Albertson’s will be issuing coupons to participants.  Bobbi/Wanda will make signs for area businesses and do the ad for the Meadowbrook News. Greg will advise the other neighborhood associations.  Cost will be $5 up to first five boxes (standard file storage boxes or trash bags) of documents and $2 each additional box.

Newsletter is in the proofreading stage.

Greg will be putting out more Crime Watch signs.

Lighting is an issue in the neighborhood…Bobbi will compose a letter to Councilman Scarth about getting bulbs.  Is there a standard for lighting in Ft. Worth? (seedy, unsafe, better presentation of the neighborhood when it’s well lit)

Trash is also an issue…what can be done?

Apartment & Real Estate – Kyni Hartwell, chair:

• There are currently 19 active properties for sale ranging from $69,900 to $245,000.
• The average cost per square foot is $54.07.
• There are three pending sales.
• Eleven properties have been sold in the last 180 days.
• We will now be including single-family residents in Boca Club so that they can participate in WNA.

Safety & Security – Carla Langley, chair:

• Bobbi is working on a Code Blue website.
• Crime seems to be dropping in Woodhaven.
• Ken mentioned that the goal for Code Blue is 100 members.
• Karl and Greg went to a Crime Watch meeting.

Enhancement – Tom & Ken, co-chairs:

• Seasonal work is being done on the markers, such as weeding.  We would like to make this more efficient.
• Greg will follow up with the person doing the power washing to see why this hasn’t been completed yet.
• All repairs have been made to the Boca & Bridge St. marker sprinkler system.
• Greg advised that he met with the new manager at Home Depot.  He may be working with Greg on plants for the markers.

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• Thanks to Kyni, Peggy will be contacting the new homeowners about WNA membership.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair

• Newsletter will be ready after the March 14^th meeting.

Special projects & Programs – Wanda Lanham and Tony Browning, co-chairs

• Wanda, Greg and Bobbi met with Mr. Scoma and he seems receptive to working together.  He will be joining WNA.
• We can use the Albertson’s parking lot for the shredding.  Wanda will check with manager about coupons for participants.  This event will be open to all of East Ft. Worth and Woodhaven newspaper will be used for advertising.
• Re: March 14^thneighborhood meeting:
  • There will be Code Blue and RAPIDS, Hawk, ADT tables.
  • Speaker for CHL will be available.
  • Speakers will need food as well.
  • Any leftovers will be taken to Storefront.
  • Wear Code Blue shirts, please.
  • Vendors will be coming.
  • Several members will be assisting with set-up beginning at 5:00 PM.

• In the last 60 days, six homes have been sold.

• Wanda, Carl, Greg and Bobbi will meet with NPO Perez about getting Code Blue back up and running.
• Code Blue assisted with two arrests this past Thursday.
• We need LOTS more communication!
• There is also a Crime Watch organization in Woodhaven.

Enhancement – Tom & Ken, co-chairs:

• Grounds were messed up and sprinklers destroyed from the construction on Bridge & Boca Raton.  City will be contacting contractors about repairs.
• They spoke with Brandon about what needs done with the markers.
• Two of the markers will be power washed at $50 each.

• Greg will be working with a copywriter to create a brochure about the benefits of joining WNA & Code Blue.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair

• New e-mail program has been tested.
• Working on a classified section on the website. It will be for members only.
• Bobbi will work on updating the website to list the businesses in the area.

• We need to begin working on the 4^th of July program.  Bobbi will be meeting with Scoma about using the country Club.  She will also ask about karaoke in March.

OLD BUSINESS:

• The NRP Group out of San Antonio wants to build a senior living center at 1051 Woodhaven Blvd.  Greg met with them and advised that the neighborhood would probably not welcome the idea..  It MAY be a possibility if one of the other apts. are torn down and they rebuild on the land.
• Directories are being delivered by volunteers to those who were not able to be at the annual meeting.
• Doug is still looking into getting a PayPal account for WNA.  There is a 2.9% plus $1.75 per transaction.  The group agreed to go ahead with this.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Code Enforcement is speaking at WDC and Greg will be attending next week.
• A note to all members: “If you still need a directory….” will be sent to the membership.
• We will be sending out a note about the upcoming redistricting meeting.

2012 Annual Meeting

January, 17 2012

After about a half hour of socializing, the meeting was called to order by Woodhaven Neighborhood President Greg Ricks at Woodhaven Country Club at 6:36 PM.

Treasurer’s report:
Beginning balance for 2012 is $13,229.94.  The biggest expense is the Woodhaven markers.  Treasurer Cuny advised that all receipts have been paid to date, and all 2011 Treasurer’s reports have been filed for audit.

Meeting notes:

• Greg advised that there are 248 current members, with more joining every day.
• Gary Johansen and Sandy Ross were recognized and thanked for their service through the years.  THANKS, YOU TWO!
• Greg also thanked Kay Shaw for getting all of the sponsors for the new directory.  It looks great!  Thanks to the directory committee!
• Marty Jackson gave a brief report of real estate in Woodhaven.  There are ten active single-family home listings, and three town homes.  There have been seven sales in the last six months. The average home for sale is listing at $60/per square foot.

Additional meeting notes

• Greg mentioned that the main goals for 2012 will be membership, the markers, and crime prevention/Code Blue.  We will also focus on the following:
  – Flower fundraisers will continue
  – Ambit Energy partnership will continue
  – Continuing the relationship with Chesapeake
  – Club relationship will grow and continue
  – Golf Scholarship will be held again this year
  – Occasional neighborhood cleanups
  – PayPal will be implemented on the website.
  – A new e-mail program will be implemented to make communications more streamlined.

• Officer Perez told us about the home burglaries in the area.  There are ongoing investigations concerning Oakmont Lane.  The burglars are acting often and bravely, some lingering around in the homes for hours.  There have been a few arrests and property has been located.
  –  As always, it’s asked that we look out for our neighbors.  CALL 911 WHENEVER YOU SENSE SOMETHING WRONG.  Juveniles and young adults are breaking windows to see if you have an alarm system and then making entry.  They are targeting guns, electronics and jewelry.  These criminals are young, not career criminals.
  –  These criminals are coming from the apartment complexes, even though each apartment renter will need to sign the Crime-Free Housing Agreement/Ordnance.  It may take up to a year to get everyone to sign them.  (They will sign when their lease is renewed.)
  –  Perez suggested that we all do a security check of your home…view it as a criminal would.  Also make sure to inventory your valuables with serial numbers.
• LT Weenig advised that they are pulling out all of the stops to catch these criminals.
  –  Texas Youth Commission is the “kid jail” for our area, but  no one under the age of 12 has been sent there under the current family court judge.  They are being caught and re-released.
  –  One adult and two juveniles have been arrested, and three more have warrants.  PD is also working with apartment complexes.  Apt. managers will be evicting those who are committing crimes.
  –  CPS has been called to assist, and they are not really able to do anything since there is no abuse.
  –  Just FYI…crime victims can sue for up to $10,000.
  –  Focus on ANY suspicious activity.  Esp. between 8-2 PM.
• LT explained the difference between the priority of calls.  No matter what the issue, police WILL RESPOND as quickly as they are able.  To get more police presence, report everything that’s unusual to 911.
• As always, you have the right to ask for a police supervisor if you are not happy with police response time or officer behavior.
• Bike patrol was suggested and LT advised he will revisit this idea.
• More patrols from code enforcement was also suggested.
• When strangers cross the golf course, call 911, and not the clubhouse security office.
• Councilman Danny Scarth came to say hello and to let us all know that his priority for Woodhaven is dedicating resources to safety and security.  He will also being speaking with the district attorney about prosecuting the younger kids to the fullest extent of the law.
  –  He also recommended putting more people/hours into Code Blue.
  –  Economic development is also an issue.  For example, apartments are too cheap to rent, which brings in lower income people.  We need to build equity in the neighborhood.
  –  Danny also asked that the executive committee work on a PID.  Money could be used for marker maintenance, infrastructure, lighting, extra police patrol, beautification, etc.  50% of homeowners and property owners would need to approve this.  All money generated would stay locally, and local volunteers would regulate the funds.
  –  Danny also thanked the WNA steering committee for their service this year.  He encouraged more folks to get involved.

• Question from the audience: Who can write the citation for a dog not on a leash? Police officers can cite the offender.

Greg thanked everyone for coming.  The key to WNA success is participation!  If anyone wants to be more involved in WNA, please let us know and we will find a place for you!

• The new WNA directory status:  Greg is meeting with the directory folks tomorrow.
• A possible zoning issue was discussed regarding the property at High Woods and Randol Mill Road. Marty will check on the zoning and report back.
• A mailer to all 800+ homeowners was proposed about recruiting volunteers for Code Blue.
• Boca and Randol Mill needs cleaned and painted. Would the country club want this? Gary will ask.

NEW BUSINESS:

• A postcard will be mailed to the entire neighborhood announcing the annual meeting.
• Annual meeting:  At our last meeting, we discussed having dessert.  Cost will be $8.50, with a minimum of 50 people. Time will be 6-7:30 at the country club.
• Doug looked into getting a PayPal account for WNA.  There is a 2.9% plus $1.75 per transaction.  The group agreed to go ahead with this.
• January slate of officers was discussed.  Greg will be president, Bobbi will be secretary, Tony will continue as treasurer, and Marty Harrison will be nominated for VP.
• We may try to change the day of the Steering Committee meetings…to be discussed later.
• The NRP Group out of San Antonio wants to build a senior living center at 1051 Woodhaven Blvd.  They would like us to extend our boundary.  We will check on this and discuss it at the February meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.

The meeting was called to order by VP Gary Johansen. Minutes from October meeting were approved as posted.

Financial report was presented by Treasurer Doug Cuny and accepted for audit. Doug informed the committee that we have not received an invoice from Woodhaven Country Club for the October WNA wine and cheese meeting held at the club. Doug will go by the club and pick up an invoice for review and payment. According to WNA records there were 56 members present for this meeting.

The new WNA Directory is in the process of design, lay-out and printing. It should be available for all members and advertisers at the January annual meeting.  Over $4,000 in ads were sold. The directory will reflect a membership of 209 and approximately 22 businesses.

Kit Sears reported that the next Code Blue Training will be held on November 12, 2011, 8am-4pm at the Fort Worth Police Academy. Three Woodhaven residents will be attending the training.  Greg Ricks provided Kit with the names of two additional people that were interested in Code Blue.  Additional Code Blue trained residents are badly needed to provide adequate coverage of the Woodhaven area.

WNA has purchased eight (8) Crime Watch signs to be placed a strategic locations within Woodhaven, including at the site of neighborhood markers. Additional signs may be purchased as needed.

Gary Johansen reported that the neighborhood markers are receiving fertilizer and pre emergent treatment.

A possible zoning issue was discussed regarding the property at High Woods and Randol Mill Road. Greg Ricks will check on the zoning and report back.

E-mails will be sent to membership regarding a blood drive by Carter Blood Bank to be held on Country Club Drive shopping area parking lot, and notice of a fundraiser that the Humane Society is organizing.

For a number of years WNA has utilized four (4) storage units at the storage facility location on Loop 820 frontage road and Boca Raton Blvd.  Under the new ownership WNA has been asked to reduce the number to two units.  WNA is requesting that anyone that can help with the consolidation, removal, and donation of the items stored there to please come to the storage facility on Saturday, November 12^th at 9 am. Coffee and donuts will be served to all participants.

Many of the current WNA Steering Committee members have agreed to serve another term.  Several additional residents will be contacted about their willingness to serve next year.

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM.

Minutes: On Line – Approved as Written.

Treasurer’s Report: $ 15,308.00 reserve

Greg: Will appoint nomination committee for new officers. Doug Cuny has agreed to stay on Board and Gary Johansen has agreed to serve again. Other existing Board members have not committed to remaining.

Gary: Maintaining the markers is still requiring a substantial block of our expenses This is primarily due to resetting the timers to comply with current water restrictions. Gary was thanked for doing some “hand- painting” on the Woodhaven sign at Randol Mill and Woodhaven Blvd. After discussion, it was decided that the future of the markers will be decided by next year’s board.

Kit: Greg has volunteered to work with Code Blue next year to recruit volunteers and drivers. It was learned that for every patrol, the driver does receive $4.00 out of a budgeted $6.00

National Night Out: Greg reported that the new location at Police Office on Woodhaven Blvd was well-attended. There were approximately 40+ attendees and WNA received some donations. There needs to be a better way to promote this event next year to the apartment properties.

New Directory: In in final process, there is a possibility that the names per street could be eliminated to save printing however, it is still under discussion.

October Meeting: Will be held at Woodhaven Country Club. Program will be neighborhood update and introduction to new police captain. Cost for Wine and Cheese will be $5.00. The actual cost is $11.00, but WNA will cover the extra $6.00.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, chair:

• Sandi advised that apartment managers have not met because of the heat.
• Wyndam Pointe has filed for and been granted an extension to meet code.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Code Blue and COPS, and neighborhood watch needs volunteers. One of the primary duties of the neighborhood association should be security. We will not only be working with the current volunteers, we will be actively recruiting new members. We are hoping that training could be held locally, perhaps at the new storefront.
• Perhaps we can utilize recent victims as new volunteers.
• NPO Perez is working on a crime report for Woodhaven.
• Next Code Blue training is the second week of November.
• Another break-in last week. Suspect came in through the garage.
• A mailer to all 800+ homeowners was proposed about recruiting volunteers.
• National Night Out in October will be at the new FWPD storefront.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

• Highwood and Boca islands have irrigation issues. Watering timers have been adjusted at all markers so that they meet water restrictions.
• Boca and Randol Mill needs cleaned and painted. Would the country club want this? Gary will ask.
• If plants are needed, Mike’s Garden Center may be willing to assist with the cost.
• Synthetic grass my be an idea.
• Gary will contact Gailen Hardin – Ft. Worth master gardener, proficient in zeroscape.

OLD BUSINESS:

• Directory funds are still being solicited. $4000 has been generated so far. We are ready begin working on layout & design for the directory.
• Ice Cream Social went well. Meadowbrook News took photos. There were over 50 people in attendance. Very positive meeting. D. Scarth will be introducing a PID in the future. Greg asked for committee volunteers for the PID study.

NEW BUSINESS:

• National Farm Life has a meeting room available for future meetings.
• The October meeting will feature the Patriot Guard and a table for Code Blue info. Location to be determined.
• Magic show – idea for future WNA meeting (perhaps January). Gary has details.
• The once a year Cowtown Cleanup has been a great event, but we  need to do it more often; therefore, we have added a Fall Litter Stomp in September.  Mark your calendars to join your neighbors to help keep Woodhaven and the City of Ft. Worth beautiful. When: Saturday, September 17^th
  Time: 9 AM to noon
  Where: Kroger parking lot in your neighborhood
  What:  Stomp out litter, garbage and trash in your neighborhood!  Gloves, t-shirts and trash bags will be supplied.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, chair:

• The bill of $300 from the apartment managers’ luncheon that was charged to Sandi’s Club account has been reimbursed.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Volunteers are being solicited through the police department so that COPS and Crime Watch can start up again. Peggy will be sending out an e-mail advising how to get involved. Peggy will start a new schedule.
• There is a suspect for the recent burglaries, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
• The Ft. Worth PD storefront has been opened.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

• Still working on a quote for cleaning of the markers. It was suggested that we take water & scrub brushes and do it as a group.
• I plan on painting the lettering on the Woodhaven marker to make it stand out – a medium cream color will be used.
• The Boca Raton and Highwood marker needed a new light timer and sprinkler system. Quality Scape of Arlingtinton did the work.
• Boca Raton and Bridge needed new sprinkler head as well. It has also been replaced.

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• About $3528 worth of more dues has been collected.
• We are up to 196 members!

• Bobbi reminded the group that minutes are posted directly following the meetings. Please send changes and updates as soon as possible.

• The July 4th activities were finalized with the Country Club. Mr. Scoma will be charging $20 per person and it seems to be getting more and more expensive. We will not be having the annual gathering there.

    • having the party at Becky’s back yard (format will need to be different)

    • Have meeting/Patriot Guard at the club, then luncheon at Becky’s
    • Have celebration at the Potter’s House (Unable to make contact)
    • Wanda will contact Smoky’s about catering.
• There was a motion to speak with Becky about having the entire meeting at her house. The motion was seconded/carried.
• Volunteers will be needed to sell tickets and man activities.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

• Charlie Burgess will no longer be the WNA attorney. Volunteers? Greg will speak with Mr. Disney.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Directory will be published this year. Greg & his committee will be contacting businesses to invite them to purchase an ad.

Treasurer Cuny advised that we made about $230 in the annual flower sale. This is lower than last year.

Woodhaven Community Development

• WCD will not be part of our group any longer. We have been asked not to attend their meetings as well.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, chair:

• Sandi advised that there were 22 apartment managers at the luncheon on April 13^th and it was deemed a success! President Ricks was the guest speaker and we got a new membership afterward. They discussed area cleanup and neighborhood activities.
• The bill was charged to Sandi’s Club account, and the Club will reimburse her account for the luncheon. The total cost was $298.50.
• It was suggested to do this annually.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Volunteers are being solicited through the police department so that COPS and Crime Watch can start up again. Peggy will be sending out an e-mail advising how to get involved.
• There were 15 officers canvassing the area due to recent crime issues, and there have been no break-ins for the last two weeks! Unfortunately, the culprit has not been caught.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

• I had Brandon remove the bushes directly in front of the marker on Woodhaven Blvd. and Randol Mill. Still working in a quote for sandblasting.
• Some sprinkler heads need replaced. A certified installer will be contacted.
• I plan on painting the lettering on the Woodhaven marker to make it stand out – a medium cream color.
• The feral pigs are being caught, and we are now ready to re-landscape.

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• 180+ members so far this year. Forms are still coming in. Some of the usual folks who have not renewed will be contacted.

• Kim @ WCC met with Sandi and they agreed that the luncheon will be april 13^th and 17 people will be in attendance plus Officer. Salad, rolls & cookies will be served at a cost of $10/per person with $50 setup fee. Door prizes will be offered!

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Code Blue training coming out in April.
• Quite a few robberies have been reported on Highwoods.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

Woodhaven Community Development

• Mr. Russell advised that meetings have been moved to the public library on Thursdays at 8:45.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, chair:

• Luncheon for apartment managers has been scheduled for April 13^th at noon. Woodhaven Country Club says that they will do the lunch for $10/per person with $50 setup fee.
• Sandi received the comparative market analysis. Of the 20 homes for sale, 6 have sold in the last three months. Average sale price was $48.47/square foot.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Police CAPT asked Greg if we could start the Crime Watch program again. We will pass info to the members as it comes to our attention.
• Question for For Capt. Jones – Would it be possible to clean up convenient stores (drugs, trash, etc.)? Perhaps there could more patrol? Greg will ask him about this.
• New storefront for the PD will be up for vote soon. Location will be near the Potter’s House.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

• Since there is no water source at some of the markers, we decided to replace plants and bushes with decorative rocks. This will simplify the whole area. Brandon will take care of this.
• No other prices have been received for power washing/cleaning the Woodhaven Blvd. sign.

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• Peggy reported that 44 people have paid their membership.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair

• We are one step closer to getting PayPal set up on the new website.

Special projects & Programs – Wanda Lanham and Tony Browning, co-chairs:

• We will be ordering “Maintained by” signs for the new library bench and the markers. This will be done when our new “Woodhaven Pride!” logo is complete. (Tony is working on this.)
• Cowtown Cleanup is coming up. Sign up and get information about this event can be found here: http://www.fortworthgov.org/kfwb/ (Look for the Woodhaven group!) Brandon will pick up around our markers. Greg and Gary will be contacting the dollar stores and grocery stores to participate. Bobbi will head this up this year (hopefully with Catherine Bradbury, who headed this up last year).

NEW BUSINESS:

• Greg and Bette Robinson spoke and she is hoping WNA will help the East Side Regional Library replace a bench that was stolen from in front of the library. It’s only $185 and we agreed that the club should do this. Greg will follow up with the library.
• July 4^th – program: Wounded Warriors: The only one in Texas right now is in San Antonio, but one of the members may come to us to present. The raffle at the program will go towards their club. The program will be 30 min., with 15 minutes of it being a film. Wanda will take care of arranging this.

Mr. James Russell advised that the Development Committee is currently working with area businesses to see how to get more business from Woodaven residents.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, chair:

• Sandi Ross advised that she has suggested a luncheon for the area apartment managers, and they seem agreeable.  The objective would be opening the lines communication. WNA would be included in their regular meeting agenda.
• The luncheon would take place at the Woodhaven Country Club, and the neighborhood association would be charged a $50 setup fee, +$10 per person.
• Sandi made a motion that WNA host/pay for luncheon for apartment owners/managers in March.  This would help establish a relationship with these folks, who in the long run, could help us and the Country Club. 
• Motion was seconded by Greg, and the motion carried.
• Additionally, Sandi reported that a list of residential properties sold/bought will be shared with the committee in the future.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair:

• Kit advised that at the next large meeting, she will ask the PD to come and pass out inventory stickers.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair:

• Gary received a bid for power washing the marker at Woodhaven and Randol Mill.  Will request more bids, and Sandi will check some of her contacts as well.

• Peggy advised that dues are still trickling in, and the reminder e-mail will be sent out this week.
• Motion on the floor to mail a note next week to all Woodhaven residents to encourage membership.  The motion was seconded by Sandi and the motion carried.
• A couple of businesses signed up to be members as a result of the Annual Meeting.
• It was suggested that we include WNA give local realtors membership info for inclusion in closing documents when people purchase homes in Woodhaven.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair:

• WNA Facebook and Twitter accounts are now available.

• We are looking into adding a PayPal module and a visitor counter to the new website.
• Good neighbors should be given a pat on the back!  Folks will be able to nominate those who do good deeds and the steering committee will send a note of thanks.  People will be able to submit names via email or the website, and names and photos will be added to the website for all to see.  We will also feature businesses when they do something nice.
  Not only does this keep the website updated between meetings, it would show others how nice the folks here are and how close-knit the community is.  Tony Browning has offered to come up with some note card ideas.  Bobbi would be willing to supply postage, assuming it doesn’t get too costly.  The committee has decided that the name for this award should be “Woodhaven Proud!”
• Some time ago, Woodhaven had a “Yard of the Month” contest.  Does anyone know what happened to the sign?  We would like to once again implement this idea.
• Since the website is so easily updated, frequent updates are welcome!  Please send your posts to bobbigalvin@gmail.com.

NEW BUSINESS:

• The Woodhaven Country Club hosts nearly all of our meetings.  Since they will now be charging $20/per person with minimum of 40 people, the committee has decided to look for other places to host our meetings.  While we should continue to support the country club, we can also support the other area businesses.  We will continue to seek better pricing from the CC.

Other potential dinner meeting places:
– Public Library charges $50.
– American Legion – too smoky
– Potter’s House, almost ready (April)
– Other ideas?

• For now, the ice cream social, St. Patrick’s Day, Annual Meeting and Semi-annual Meeting events will again be at the club.
• Committee of Greg, Gary & Bobbi will work on pulling together the March meeting.
• The committee has decided that we would like to hold membership meetings/events every other month, with no meeting this year in February, June and December. A detailed calendar will be presented at the March meeting.
• WNA has items in four storage bins.  We need to clean them out (and thank the owner publicly) and consolidate to one or two bins.  Greg will take care of this.

Treasurer’s Report

Treasurer Cuny advised that this report reflects the best starting balance in five years. Since the committee added no changes to the report, it will be kept on file for audit.

Committee Reports

Membership – Peggy Schooler, chair

• Ms. Schooler, the president and VP have been discussing how to increase membership. A letter or postcard will be sent to all Woodhaven homes regarding the January 18^th membership meeting encouraging all residents to attend.

Enhancement – Gary Johansen, chair

• Bids will be sought to power wash or sand blast the Randol Mill marker.
• As some of the markers are looking a bit “ragged,” Gary will be asking the caretaker for a bit more maintenance.

Publicity & Website – Bobbi Galvin, chair

• Bobbi was asked to chair this committee and will be trained within the next couple of weeks.
• There is debate on whether or not to keep the website at a cost of nearly $400 per year, instead promoting our services through Facebook. While Facebook accounts are free, one must have an account to view content.

Apartment & Real Estate – Sandi Ross, liaison/chair

• Since there are no longer regularly-scheduled meetings for the group, Sandi suggested reaching out to the apartment managers in the neighborhood to see if they would be interested in attending a luncheon hosted at the Country Club, with the meal being provided by WHA. The purpose of this luncheon would be to inform the apartment managers of our mission and philosophy and encourage membership. All members of the committee were in favor of this idea, and Sandi will further explore this option.

Safety & Security – Kit Sears, chair

• Nothing to report at this time

Business Committee – WCD Representative, chair

• Representative not present

Legal Committee – Charlie Burgess, chair

• Not present

Special Projects & Programs – Wanda Lanham, chair

• This is a new committee, and Ms. Lanham agreed to be the first chair. This committee will be responsible for working with the country club to arrange food for dinner meetings and special events and serving as hosts/hostesses.

In addition to the standing committees, the Steering Committee has appointed the following:

Nominating Committee – Gary Johansen and Kay Shaw, co-chairs

• The committee will present a slate of officers to the membership at the Annual Meeting Jan. 18.

Auditing Committee – Doug Cuny and Bill Jackson, co-chairs

• The annual financial audit will be taking place within the next couple of weeks. Membership will be encouraged to read the final audit report when it becomes available.

Old Business - none

New Business

1. The first Woodhaven Homeowner’s Association Steering Committee meeting of 2011 began by introducing Kyle Phelps, the new general manager of the Woodhaven Country Club. Since the homeowner’s association utilizes the Country Club for various events nearly every month, Greg and Gary will meet with Mr. Phelps to discuss what the association has done in the past. They will work out the schedule to accommodate our meetings and discuss upcoming events.
   It was made clear that both groups want to be a conduit to each others activities. Open communication will create turnout for not only our two organizations, but the other organizations in the neighborhood as well.
   Mr. Phelps advised that all remodeling will be mostly behind the scenes for now and should not impact any upcoming events.
2. A tentative calendar was discussed, and the committee agreed that dinner meetings should be included as well as general membership meetings. A more final calendar will be presented at the annual meeting on Jan. 18^th.
3. The group agrees that it is once again time to publish a membership directory. Volunteers are needed to pull the directory together and to gather sponsors. Please contact Gary if you are interested in helping.
4. President Ricks solicited ideas for activities for the upcoming year. Events will be communicated to the membership by e-mail, and public events will be promoted to the entire neighborhood using mailed postcards. All events will be hosted by the Woodhaven Country Club, so we will ask the club to consider the following events:

• Murder mystery Night
• Casino Night
• Valentine’s Day Event
• Self Defense Class
• Annual 4^th of July Festivities
• Ice Cream Social
• Karaoke Night
• Other ideas are encouraged, and should be sent to Gary Johansen.
