FWPD offering new free online search service

from the Star Telegram

FORT WORTH — The Fort Worth Police Department is offering a new feature on its website that allows “citizens and visitors” the ability to obtain and view certain police reports.

The free service, called “report search,” provides the public the ability to print reports using personal computers. Reports that are confidential by law, such as those sexual in nature or involving juveniles, are not accessible.

To obtain a police report, the following is required: the report number and a valid e-mail address, or a date range, a last name and a valid e-mail address.

Users of the service can bypass the need to contact the Police Records Division or the city’s Records Management office if the report they need is available online; pending the department’s internal approval process.

For more information, visit www.fortworthpd.com/Reports or search keyword “reports” on the police department’s website. Accident reports are not available online.

Hats off to Code Blue!

The police and Code Blue pulled a Saturation Detail Thursday morning between 9:30-11:30am.  During the two hour patrol, there were two arrests made. One arrest was on Oakmont called in by Code Blue members as a suspicious person.  He had numerous warrants and was a sex offender. He was taken to jail.

The second arrest was at the corner of High Woods Trail and Boca Raton for the burglary of a TV. The suspect was a Hispanic male driving a white Ford Expedition. The burglary may have been in progress when NPO Perez spotted him. He left the scene at high speed and was apprehended by Officer Perez. He had numerous warrants as well. He is now in jail and his car was towed.

Thanks to our East Side officers and to Code Blue!
We simply must continue to be vigilant.

Kroger leaving Woodhaven

Dear Neighbor:
We just received news from the office of Councilman Danny Scarth that Kroger has decided to close their store here in Woodhaven. While this certainly isn’t welcome news it does open the door to the possibility of getting something even better in that location. You can rest assured that the Woodhaven Neighborhood Association, Woodhaven Community Development and Councilman Scarth will be working with the city economic development department to turn this bad news into good news.

>> Distraction Burglars in South Division <<

Information from FWPD Crime Analyst Unit

Please watch out for your neighbors and report any suspicious activity to 911 immediately!

Fort Worth has been experiencing a series of burglaries with a unique M.O. primarily on the south side of the city. Other cities in the metroplex have also reported burglaries with a similar MO and it is very likely these incidents are being committed by the same actors.

MO
The first suspect knocks on the front door of a residence and states he is doing work on an adjacent property (usually tree trimming, but also reasons like pouring cement, installing sprinkler system, etc). The suspect states that this work will affect the owner’s property in some way and states he needs the owner to join him in the back yard so he can explain exactly what will be affected. In almost every incident the victim is an elderly female who is at home alone. While the homeowner is in the back yard with the first suspect the second suspect (often identified as a female) enters the house steals jewelry, watches, coins and money from the residence. In several reports the first suspect receives a phone call while outside with the owner. This might be a signal between the two suspects. Time of day for these incidents is generally between 10:00 and 14:00 during the beginning of the work week. It is unknown how the victims are targeted, but there appears to be a high level of planning and target selection in these incidents.

Suspect Information:

Suspect 1:
Hispanic Male, 40-50 years old, 5’06” to 5’11”, is described as “chubby”, 210-230lbs.

Suspect 2:
Hispanic Female, approx 30 years old, 5’02” to 5’04”, 110 to 125 lb

Suspect Vehicle:
White Chevy 4dr Avalanche with black accents

We want to see you!

Dear Neighbor,
The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Woodhaven Neighborhood Association will be held at the Woodhaven Country Club on Tuesday, January 17. Dessert, coffee and/or tea at
6:00, and at 6:30 we’ll have reports and the election of officers . Representatives from the police department have also been invited.

Another reason to come to the annual meeting is because we have a brand new directory this year. Kay Shaw and Peggy Schooler have worked with The Ink Spot to provide
WNA members with a beautiful new directory and we’ll have plenty on hand at the meeting. Just renew your $50 per household membership for 2012 to get your copy.

Oh, and one more thing…the Club is providing us with a wonderful selection of desserts, coffee and tea for only $8.50 a person but you’ll need to let us know by Monday, January 16th to Peggy Schooler <schooler16@sbcglobal.net > if you want to partake of the dessert.

Please try and make it to the meeting. In order for this to be a viable neighborhood association we need people to participate so we hope you’ll come.

Thanks. And we’ll see you Tuesday, January 17th.

Sincerely yours,
Greg Ricks
President

A toast!

The Woodhaven Neighborhood Association Steering Committee
wishes all residents a very happy and prosperous 2012.

East Fort Worth Business Association Fundraiser

Dear Neighbor,
Many of us here on the East Side who have a business or manage one are members of the East Fort Worth Business Association. It’s a volunteer group that supports the business community, business development and they represent business related interests here on the east side.

On Dec. 19 and on Dec. 20 The Mexican Inn at 2700 E. Lancaster (Just east of Beach Street) is celebrating their 75th Anniversary. Not only is it a very special occasion for them they are doing something special for the East Fort Worth Business Association. The Mexican Inn is donating 25% of whatever they bring in those nights between the hours of 5 PM to 9 PM.  I invite you to stop in for dinner on either (or both) evenings and support a worthy organization and a terrific east side restaurant.
